Every child can learn.
Every child can excel.
Not all children learn in the same way.
Not all children excel in the same skills.
Not all children learn at the same rate.

Every child is ready to learn something today.
Every child will learn something today.

Everyone is a teacher.
Teaching skills can be honed and sharpened.

There are many varieties of teaching styles.
There are varieties of learning styles.
Most children need an eclectic style incorporating a wide variety of presentation and practice methods to ensure progress without boredom.

Teaching is a matter of making choices:

What is my child ready to learn?
How many different things can he/she be working on at once?
How can I best present it for his/her success?
How much guided practice does he/she need?
When is he/she ready to move to independent practice?
What kind of practice is best for his long term memory?
How much practice is needed for his long term memory?
Is this something he must learn to mastery?
How will I know whether or not he has mastered it?
